Chevonne: It’s kind of like a marriage, and you kind of go through like the ebbs and flows of “I’m in love, I’m n- I’m not in love. I’m tolerating you, I don’t like you, I know I have to love you, and it’s been the same way with my business.


Chevonne: I can use the word resilient. I mean, I’ve seen- I’ve been through a lot of changes and I’ve- I’ve been through a lot of different stages, and it’s so funny now because my interior design company is now 9 years old, and I feel like I’m, I, I feel like now I’m where I should have been when I started. Like, I sh- I feel like I should have had a better start and um, all the challenges that I’ve been through, I think it just says that, you know, no matter what, this is- I have no other choice. Like, this has to work.

Lalit: You’re not going to be able to please everyone in the market. Not all- not everyone’s going to love the sauces, so we get mixed feedback on some people loving and some people not loving it, but liking another sauce, and you know, it’s something we’ve had, you know, to overcome emotionally is, you know, someone says, “I’m not a big fan of your sauce.” That’s okay because we had- we’re not- we just know now that we’re not going to be able to please the entire market out there.

Ladesha: I don’t really look at them as setbacks because if I don’t go through it now, I have to go through it eventually, so I’d rather learn everything I need to learn, um, and kind of- I mean, it’s cliché, of course, but the best way you really do learn is from mistakes, is from setbacks, because now you can refocus, now you can kind of say, “Okay, I won’t do it like that the next time,” and I’ve done- now, that has happened a lot and has helped me so much, so I’m grateful for them.

Ian: I feel like if the client isn’t satisfied with where we’re at, that just means that we need to reassemble and figure out how to get to where they want to go. Um, I actually am much happier to have a client that doesn’t just say, “Oh, that looks great.” Um, and then actually wants to ask hard questions and wants to challenge the process. Um, because that’s what makes work industry- interesting. Um, you know the first try is never the right try- the right deal. Actually, I just had a situation yesterday where a client called us and said, “I’m not happy with any of this stuff,” and I said, “Well, I wasn’t either. Um, and I know you were away for a week, and let me show you what I have now.”

Lalit: We face setbacks every day. Once having quit our jobs, this has been an emotional roller coaster. I won’t lie. Um, something great happens, we’re over- overly excited Something not-so-great happens, and we get down and you know, put back. But have-getting setbacks are just part and parcel of being an entrepreneur. You’re going to face small setbacks every day, you’re going to face big setbacks every now and then, but part of being an entrepreneur is just having that persistence and just, you know, keep going.
